Dr. Sulman Ahmed Founder & CEO
Dr. Sulman Ahmed earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas, Dallas. He went on to complete his dental education and training from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, considered to be one of the finest centers for higher dental education. While in dental school, he participated in the Incentive Honors program, the Endodontic Honors program and the Prosthodontics Honors program.
In 2008, Dr. Ahmed opened his first dental office and set out to create a truly patient centered model. His belief in putting patients first is the fundamental backbone in DECA Dental's core values and patient care delivery model. Ensuring adequate training for doctors, the very best materials being placed in the patient's mouth, weekend hours and multiple specialists working under one roof are just the beginning of his vision.
Under Dr. Ahmed's leadership DECA Dental has received many honors and awards. Some of the more notable ones are being recognized as Inc. Magazine's Top 5000 fastest growing companies in the nation. Additionally, the Dallas Business Journal recognized DECA Dental as one the top 100 companies in the region and the 21st fastest growing company in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. On a more personal note Dr. Ahmed has achieved many honors and awards, one of the more notable ones being named as a finalist for the 2016 EY Entrepreneur of the Year, and winner of the 2017 EY Entrepreneur of the Year.
When not busy practicing dentistry he enjoys traveling as often as possible and spending time with his family.
Dr. Shalin Patel Chief Clinical Officer
Dr. Shalin Patel recognizes the value of team-building to achieve successful results. A highly regarded dental professional with several years of clinical experience, Dr. Patel is responsible for developing procedures and finding solutions to create successful practices. A hands-on leader focused on achieving results in a dynamic, patient-oriented work environment, he has a proven track record of building and training teams around a cohesive growth strategy and clear leadership vision.
An administrator who has helped create core values based on collaboration and cooperation, Dr. Patel is responsible for helping with the development, execution and monitoring of clinical standards and practice protocols. DECA Dental's commitment to excellence is always the top priority to Dr. Patel. He manifests a culture geared towards patient centered clinical care by recruiting, training and working with elite dentists from the finest schools across the nation.
Quality of care is never compromised at DECA Dental, therefore he interacts with local dental lab technicians along with supply and manufacturing vendors to ensure only the best materials and supplies are used, thus enabling all offices to offer patients an exclusive warranty on all dental work. Furthermore, DECA Dental's team of highly trained specialists allow the ability to offer comprehensive care all in one office. Dr. Patel helps uphold the core clinical philosophy in that all dentists, by using state of the art technology and cutting-edge techniques, strive to provide and maintain the highest quality of dentistry.
Dr. Patel attended the University of Mississippi for both his undergraduate studies and for dental school. In dental school, he took a leadership role during his tenure as Student Body President and also graduated in the top tier of his class and won numerous academic, leadership and research awards. Based on years of exceptional clinical experience and commitment to continuing education, Dr. Patel has been recognized several times as one of "America's Top Dentists" by the Consumers' Research Council of America and been recognized by multiple local and national dental organizations.
Dr. Rodney Alles Chief of Clinical Affairs
A highly regarded dental professional with over 10 years of clinical experience, Dr. Rodney Alles has a unique skill set for developing and integrating procedures and providing solutions to keep patients satisfied and practices profitable. An exceptionally able administrator who has created a corporate culture based on teamwork and achieving goals, he supervises regional practice managers while overseeing quality assurance and doctor recruitment and training at DECA Dental affiliated offices.
Dr. Alles has always taken great pride in being a great clinician. He has done this by taking numerous CE courses from the best clinicians in the dental industry. This drive and accumulation of information has allowed him to set up systems and procedures that he can teach his doctors to provide the best patient care in the industry.
Dr. Alles has cultivated the development of consistent quality standards for treatment planning, verbals and efficiency of his doctors and the rest of his office teams. This has set DECA Dental apart in the industry and has given it a name synonymous with quality dental professionals. He insures that the execution and the quality of patient care are second to none in the dental industry. Along with the execution of systems, Dr Alles has set up numerous avenues to provide DECA Dental with state-of-the-art, and cutting edge materials and supplies needed to provide the very best dental treatment.
Dr. Alles attended the University of Oklahoma for undergraduate studies and for dental school. He is a member of the Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Comsetic Dentistry, and Academy of General Dentistry. He has also been nominated to join the International Association of Health Care Providers, and he has been recognized multiple times as one of "America's Top Dentists" by the Consumers' Research Council of America.
Rob Stovall Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer at Deca Dental Rob Stovall overseas all the company's accounting, finance, HR, and RCM functions. These centralized service support functions are provided to all Deca's offices ensuring they can focus on delivering an exceptional Guest Experience. Our primary directive is to ensure all our Guests enjoy and appreciate our continued focus on quality and care.
Rob has over 25 years' experience leading accounting and finance functions, with expertise in designing and instituting improvements to back-office functions. He has created financial organizations, policies, processes and procedures as well as analyzing and improving existing control structures. His primary strength is parachuting into corporate situations and quickly creating stability, structure, process, and results. High-growth, companies in transition, and those facing operational or financial challenges are a specialty for Rob.
Rob began his career in commercial banking before moving into turnaround management consulting at Price Waterhouse. While at Price Waterhouse Dallas, Russia and subsequently PwC, Rob rose through the ranks to Director writing 5 articles for publication and winning the Dallas Client Service award. Following his successful career at PwC, Rob moved on to be Vice President of Finance at Data Return Corporation, a web hosting platform. After the sale of Data Return Rob returned to consulting and spent the following 12 years at AlixPartners, living in Dallas and the UK, receiving 3 “Achievement in Excellence” awards for superior client service. Just prior to Deca Dental Rob was Vice President and Corporate Controller of MedExpress Urgent Care, the country's largest chain of urgent care centers, where he was instrumental in selling the company to Optum (a United Healthcare company).
Rob graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Economics and minor in Accounting. He also has an MBA from Texas A&M University and studied for a year in Austria at Johannes Kepler Universität.
David Boguslawski Chief Operations Officer
David is the Chief Operating Officer at DECA Dental, and he was the first C-level Executive to join the team. David's main focus has been developing the systems, processes and people to be able to effectively scale the business while still maintaining the reputation Deca was already known for... an excellent guest experience and clinical quality. Within his first year, and with help from a rock star team, he was instrumental in doubling the number of locations and employees. During that time DECA also entered three new markets outside of DFW and was named DFW's 21st fastest growing company by Dallas Business Journal. All of this was accomplished while growing the customer satisfaction rating to over 90%.
Prior to joining Deca Dental, David worked eight years within Highland Capital Management's Private Equity group serving as a Portfolio Manager and Operating Partner for multiple healthcare portfolio companies. He was responsible for their financial performance, recruiting the C-Suite and active on their Board of Directors.
While at Highland, David spent most of his time onsite at the portfolio companies partnering with the executive teams to implement strategic plans, establish KPI and operating reviews, institute continuous improvement programs, and serve in interim executive roles as needed. David is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with 12 years experience leading strategic growth and operational improvement initiatives within both fortune 100 and distressed environments.
Additionally, he has eight years capital markets experience evaluating and integrating M&A transactions within private equity.
Prior to joining Highland, David was a Production Manager at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control where he led the turnaround of a unionized sheet metal fabrication team to win the prestigious Performance Management Team of the Year within the 3,000 person facility. Prior to that, David rotated through multiple roles in Lockheed's selective Operations Leadership Development Program.
David has a Master's of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. He received is Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas. David also earned the APICS CPIM Operations Management professional certification.
